Katy ISD's Schmaltz Elementary in Houston, TX is seeking a SPED Resource/ICS Aide, bilingual, to support teachers with instructional needs and data collection. The role is full-time and based on 187 duty days per year.

The incumbent will assist with accommodations, behavior plans, and confidential student records while providing personal care as required by IEPs. Immediate start is expected.

Qualifications

  • College hours for Title I campus: 48 hours or ParaPro score 464.
  • HS diploma or GED with ParaPro score 464 for Non-Title I campus.
  • Paraprofessional certificate required once employed.
  • Bilingual may be required for respective positions.
  • Communicate and work with students.
  • Maintain confidential student information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with preparation, implementation, and data collection of student goals, accommodations, modifications, and delivery of supports.
  • Deliver accommodations, modifications, and other supports to students with special education services in whole group, small group, or individually, as described in the IEP.
  • Assist teachers with classroom management and behavioral plans. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
  • Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Please Note: Additional Qualification for Title I Campus:

Primary Purpose:

Assist the teacher with instructional needs as appropriate

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with the preparation, implementation, and data collection of student academic, behavioral, and functional goals, accommodations, modifications, and delivery of supports
  • Deliver accommodations, modifications, and other supports to students with special education services in whole group, small group, or individually, as described in the IEP.
  • Assist teachers with classroom management and behavioral plans. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
  • Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Expose to biological hazards.
