Job summary

BEAR CREEK ELEMENTARY in Houston, Texas is seeking a full-time Aide for Physical Education to support the PE teacher. Reports to the Principal; position is Non-Exempt on a 187-day schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional activities, organizing equipment, secretarial tasks, updating gradebooks, supervising students during bus duty and transitions, and maintaining bulletin boards with accuracy and energy.

Qualifications

• Title I campus requires 48 college hours or a 464 ParaPro score.
• Non-Title I campus requires college hours with HS diploma or GED.
• Paraprofessional aide certification required once employed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities: PE demonstrations and supervision.
• Organize equipment for daily activities and maintain readiness.
• Perform secretarial duties: typing, filing, grading, and recording tests.

Primary Purpose:

Assist the physical education teacher with instructional needs as appropriate for the grade and subject area.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in instructional activities: exercising, demonstrating games, and monitoring children.
• Organize equipment needed for daily activities.
• Perform secretarial duties for the P.E. department: typing, filing, grading, and recording tests.
• Keep bulletin boards up-dated.
• Monitor locker room before and after class.
• Assist with up-dating gradebooks, recording roll, recording scores, and discipline marks.
• Bus duty before and/or after school.
• Supervise students when assigned.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
