Job summary

ALC-West in Katy, Texas is seeking an Aide/Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports instructional activities, supervises students, and assists with classroom operations within CFISD’s ALC-West program.

Starting immediately, you will work 187 days per year with a base salary of $21,739 and potential for an additional $1,000 annual stipend. Prior experience with children is preferred and heavy lifting is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must have one of the following:
• 48 hours of college credits, OR
• Associates or higher degree, OR
• Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

SALARY/PAY GRADE:

$21,739/IP-2 as approved by the Board of Trustees.

*ALC aides earn an additional $1,000 annual stipend.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or other school personnel supervisor.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Tools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
• Posture:Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion:Frequent walking and reaching
• Lifting:May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
• Environment:Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)
• Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
