Job summary

The Santa Fe Independent School District is seeking a dedicated Aide-Library at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, TX. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will provide instructional support and help manage classroom activities.

You must have a high school diploma or GED, and may need an associate degree or two years of college, plus a valid Texas educational aide certificate; bilingual skills are a plus. This is a full-time, onsite position reporting to the Campus Principal.

Qualifications

  • Provide instructional assistance to students under the supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of testing instruments and work assignments.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classroom and assist with inventory and equipment care.
  • Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

Responsibilities

  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Supervise students during lunchroom, bus, and playground times.

Position/Job Title: Aide-Library

Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • Have met formal academic assessment, associate’s degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate

[Physical Education Aide : Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate]

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Bilingual Preffered
Experience
  • Some experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
  • Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Student Management
  • Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
  • Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
  • Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  • Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
  • Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
  • Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

Motion: Moderate walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

* Required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program.
