Job summary

Sutter Health is hiring a Per Diem/Casual kitchen associate at the ABSMC-Ashby Campus in Berkeley. You will assist in food prep, storage, dishwashing and sanitation while following policies and recipes to serve snacks and meals to patients and visitors.

You will support tray line, cafeteria, dish room, host/hostess, or catering duties, and communicate effectively with peers and supervisors to ensure privacy and safety in patient care.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Basic food production and service knowledge.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and follow instructions.
• Capable of basic measurement and portioning for recipes.
• Able to meet deadlines and multi-task amid interruptions.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ensure patient PHI privacy in all duties.

Position Overview

Performs general kitchen duties including food preparation and storage, cleaning and storing dishes, utensils, pots, and performing general department sanitation. Follows clearly defined department policies and recipes to accurately prepare and serve snacks and meals to patients and visitors. Supports the functionality of the department by assisting in a variety of areas including tray line, cafeteria, dish room, host/hostess, or catering. Gains confidence and cooperation from peers and supervisors through effective communication and competent job performance. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Education

HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills And Knowledge

• Basic food production and food service knowledge with ability to use various food service supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of maintaining a safe food environment including proper cleaning procedures and usage of equipment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English as well as understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions.
• Must have sufficient mathematical ability to perform basic measurement and portioning activities including increasing and decreasing recipes.
• Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).

Pay Range is $30.89 to $34.60 / hour

The posted pay range is based on the position's primary work location. Candidates who reside and work outside of that location may be subject to a different pay range based on their work location.
