Overview

Join to apply for the Aide, ESE, UniNeed, IDEA role at Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Aide, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Unique Needs position is grant-funded and based on the needs of individual students and/or classrooms. In the event of a unit loss midyear or reassignment of the unit, the employee will receive proper notice to allow for a transfer into another position. The aide will assist school staff in the care and management of students with disabilities while at school under the direction and supervision of an immediate supervisor/supervising teacher, who evaluates performance through observation of work, critiques, and/or records and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the daily schedule and assignments.
  • Assists students with personal hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, diapering, dressing), as directed by the teacher.
  • Assists with implementing classroom and/or individual behavior management systems.
  • Provides for the care, well-being, and supervision of students with disabilities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

  • Language Skills: Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Presents information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with tens and hundreds. Applies these operations using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Carries out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions; solves problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
  • Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
  • Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
  • Reaching: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
  • Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity level is loud.
