Responsibilities

The Hospice Aide, under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides personal direct patient care services as outlined in the Plan of Care.

• Reports on patient encounters and conditions to the Executive Director or designee, following the Care Management process as needed.
• Assists with ADLs such as mobility, transfers, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting during each patient visit.
• Performs household services essential to the patient's health at home to prevent or delay institutionalization.
• Participates in QAPI (Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement) activities, reporting problems to the administrator as needed.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Complete a competency evaluation prior to patient care.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.

Additional State Specific Requirements

• In Arkansas: At least one year of experience in an institutional setting, a state-issued certificate, or completion of a 40-hour aide training course. Nursing students may qualify with appropriate documentation.

Skill Requirements

• Mature, effective in dealing with hospice care demands.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions accurately and promptly.
