Gentiva is seeking a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) for a full-time dayshift to provide compassionate care in patients’ homes, assisted living facilities, or inpatient units. The role requires an active CNA license in NJ, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility with walkers and wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits.
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Practice infection control and safety protocols.

Compensation may vary within the salary range provided based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s geographic location, experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, internal equity, and department equity. Gentiva provides associates with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, of which base pay is just one component.

Salary Range: $22.00 - $23.50 per hour

Essential Functions

About You

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required)
• Current CPR certification (Required)
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required)
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required)
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long-term care environments
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Preferred Background (Not Required)

• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology
• Prior roles in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med-surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end-of-life care, wound care, or admissions support
