Job summary

SpaceXSI is hiring a remote role to train and refine Grok's voice and language capabilities in Icelandic. You will translate, annotate, and provide feedback on multilingual audio data, shaping pronunciation, phrasing, and cultural nuance for a worldwide user base.

You should be fluent in Icelandic (CEFR C1+) with strong English (CEFR B2+). The role may be full- or part-time, six-month contracts, and US candidates must be able to work within local business hours; visa sponsorship is not offered.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this role, you will help train and refine Grok's voice and language capabilities in Icelandic. Your expertise will directly shape how Grok speaks and understands Icelandic, from pronunciation and natural phrasing to cultural nuance. You will see your work show up in a product used by people around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Annotate, label, and provide feedback on multilingual audio clips, voice recordings, and speech samples using proprietary tools.
• Translate and localize text (UI copy, prompts, responses, and other content) from English into Icelandic, with attention to accuracy, natural phrasing, and cultural fit.
• Help produce clear, natural audio data that accurately captures linguistic and prosodic details such as intonation, rhythm, and accent.
• Collaborate with technical staff to refine annotation guidelines and tools for handling accents, background noise, speech variation, and multilingual audio.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in Icelandic at CEFR C1 level or higher.
• English proficiency at CEFR B2 level or higher.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Native proficiency in Icelandic.
• English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Advanced transcription or audio annotation, with strong attention to accents, prosody, disfluencies, and variable recording quality.
  • Translation or localization work (especially UI, product copy, or conversational text) between English and Icelandic.
  • Voice recording, voice acting, podcasting, or related audio production that demonstrates clear delivery and attention to sound quality.
  • Background in linguistics, phonetics, speech sciences, or hands‑on work with speech/audio datasets and AI training data.

LOCATION AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

• This is a remote role which may be performed from the following countries:
  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • Australia
• This role may be offered as a full‑time or part‑time position, depending on role / business needs and candidate availability. Full‑time positions are preferred and require working standard business hours in your local time zone.
• Positions are typically offered as fixed‑term employment contracts of 6 months. Extensions or conversion to a permanent role may be available based on business needs.
• For US‑based candidates, please note that we are unable to hire in Wyoming and Illinois at this time.
• We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
• Travel to a SpaceXSI site may be required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

US‑based candidates: $35/hour - $45/hour depending on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications. International candidates: Information will be provided to you during the recruitment process.
