Job summary

Coda Search is partnering with a leading global law firm to create a role in its Knowledge & Innovation team for an attorney with hands-on AI experience to lead development and adoption of AI tools across legal practice and business services.

The ideal candidate combines legal judgment with technical fluency, turning complex processes into practical tools, while managing projects end-to-end and ensuring confidentiality and risk controls.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and NY bar admission preferred.
• 4+ years of legal practice experience in BigLaw or equivalent environment.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, AI workflow development, or AI tool building.
• Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation (RAG), workflow automation, and the legal AI vendor landscape.
• Strong project and stakeholder management with ability to work independently and credibly with partners.
• Experience developing or delivering training and explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
• Sound judgment regarding confidentiality, professional responsibility, risk, and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI transformation projects from discovery through prototyping, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

• Build and refine prompts, prompt libraries, multi-step AI workflows, and lightweight automations.

Coda Search is partnering with a leading global law firm on a newly created role within its Knowledge & Innovation team. This is an opportunity for an attorney with hands-on AI experience to lead the development and adoption of AI tools across legal practice and business services.

Combining project leadership with hands-on development, this person will identify opportunities, design and build AI workflows, assess their performance, and refine them for firmwide use. The ideal candidate brings legal judgment, technical fluency, and the ability to turn complex processes into practical tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead AI transformation projects from initial discovery and scoping through prototyping, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
• Partner with attorneys and business leaders to identify workflow challenges and develop practical AI solutions.
• Build and refine advanced prompts, prompt libraries, multi-step AI workflows, and lightweight automations.
• Evaluate tools for accuracy, quality, and reliability, incorporating appropriate human review and confidentiality safeguards.
• Drive adoption through coaching, workshops, office hours, training curricula, and practical playbooks.
• Track usage, adoption, and impact to guide priorities and measure results.
• Evaluate emerging legal AI platforms and technologies.
• Collaborate with technology, information security, knowledge management, and professional development teams to support secure integration and rollout.

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar; New York admission preferred.
• At least four years of legal practice experience within BigLaw or a comparable environment; in-house experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with prompt engineering, AI workflow development, or AI tool building.
• Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation (RAG), workflow automation, and the legal AI vendor landscape.
• Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives independently and earn credibility with partners and senior leaders.
• Experience developing or delivering training and explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
• Sound judgment regarding confidentiality, professional responsibility, risk, and quality control.
