Job summary

Prolific Academic Ltd is seeking Aerospace Engineers to join our expert network for open-source CAD research. You will help train AI models by outlining how experienced engineers approach real-world CAD design challenges and validation workflows.

Work is fully remote and ad hoc, on a freelance basis with PayPal payments. After a short screener (about 10 minutes, paid at $12/h), selected participants will tackle tasks of varying complexity, with pay up to $120/hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Strong proficiency with open-source CAD software (e.g., FreeCAD, KiCad).
• Comfortable using Linux and/or Windows environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Reliable internet connection and access to a computer.

Responsibilities

• Design physical objects suitable for 3D printing using open-source CAD software.
• Complete engineering design tasks while your workflow, including tool usage, is captured to train AI models.
• Write and execute Python validation scripts to support your design workflow.
• Examples: glider, propeller blade optimization, rocket fin set, drone frame weight optimization.

• Examples: Fixed-wing glider maximizing glide distance (≤4 printed parts); propeller blade optimizing static thrust; rocket fin set minimizing drag while maintaining stability; drone frame minimizing weight subject to impact survival
