Job summary

Midland States Bank is seeking an AI Solutions Engineer Intern to join our team in St. Louis, MO, Effingham, IL, or Rockford, IL.

The role focuses on prototyping, testing, and delivering practical AI solutions that safely embed AI into business workflows across the Bank. You will work with the AI team on production AI projects, learn new tools, and contribute to building AI agents, APIs, and data integrations while aligning with governance and security standards.

Qualifications

• Internship runs Summer 2027 (mid-May to early August).
• Must reside near St. Louis, MO, Effingham, IL, or Rockford, IL and report to Midland office.
• Enrolled in a Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, Information Systems, or related degree with ≥2 years completed.
• Works well in a team environment and communicates effectively.
• Experience with Python, APIs, SQL, cloud technologies, or GenAI tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support AI team in prototyping, testing, and delivering AI solutions.
• Own or contribute to production-focused AI projects end to end.
• Build AI agents and applications for practical business use cases across the Bank.
• Connect enterprise data and systems via APIs, MCP, or other integration methods.
• Contribute to enhancements of the Midland AI platform and automate workflows.
• Test emerging AI models and measure solution adoption and impact.
• Collaborate with AI and engineering teams and business partners with governance.
• Perform other duties as assigned and ensure regulatory compliance.
