Job description

The AI Solutions Automation Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering AI-driven automation solutions within the firm’s Microsoft 365 environment. Reporting to the Head of AI and Innovation, this role serves as the primary execution and architecture lead for Microsoft Copilot-based automation, including Copilot Studio agents, Power Automate workflows, and SharePoint- and OneDrive-grounded knowledge solutions.

This position focuses on practical delivery, technical architecture, and build quality, translating approved AI priorities into governed, production-ready solutions. The role will initially operate as the firm’s primary AI automation builder and is expected, over time, to mentor and train a junior engineer to expand delivery capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and build AI-driven workflow automation using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Graph.
  • Select and implement the appropriate Microsoft 365 extensibility pattern (e.g., Copilot Studio agents, automated workflows, connectors, APIs) based on business requirements, data sources, and risk considerations.
  • Architect human-in-the-loop automation that preserves appropriate review, approval, and professional judgment for legal and regulated workflows.
  • Develop reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, and implementation standards to support scalable delivery.
Governance-Aligned Engineering
  • Design solutions that comply with firm policies and Microsoft 365 governance controls, including permissions, sensitivity labels, data loss prevention (DLP), and environment separation (Dev/Test/Prod).
  • Partner closely with IT, Security, and Compliance to ensure solutions are production-ready and meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, testing evidence, and release materials to support approval and deployment.
Quality, Testing, and Support
  • Own technical quality for delivered solutions, including testing, validation, and issue remediation.
  • Troubleshoot integration, data access, and workflow issues across Microsoft 365 services.
  • Provide limited post-deployment support and iteration for approved solutions.
  • Support workflow-specific user enablement through documentation, demos, and targeted guidance.
  • Mentor and train a junior automation engineer over time, establishing clear build standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in enterprise software engineering, automation, or solutions architecture.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 automation and extensibility, including Power Automate and SharePoint/OneDrive.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments (e.g., law firm, professional services, financial services).
  • Strong understanding of solution architecture principles, workflow design, and system integration.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio or similar conversational/agent platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Graph APIs, connectors, and identity/permission models.
  • Working familiarity with Power Platform environment management and governance concepts (DLP, solution lifecycle)
  • Exposure to data governance, privacy, and information-management concepts in a legal or professional-services context.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or technical analysts.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid work environment that provides flexibility while fostering collaboration. Three in-office days and two remote workdays each week.
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave programs.
  • Family-building and fertility support benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Remote work and mobile phone reimbursement programs.
  • Meaningful opportunities for professional growth.
  • A collegial, team-oriented culture where employees are valued and supported.
