Job summary

CFGI is seeking a Managing Director, AI Solutions Architecture to lead as the senior technical authority for AI services. You will diagnose readiness, translate findings into scoped roadmaps, and personally ship initial client builds while scaling the engineering team.

You will define delivery standards, own platform depth across Claude Enterprise, Claude Code, Cowork and MCP integration, and lead a Delivery Pod of AI engineers to production.

Managing Director, AI Solutions Architecture

ABOUT CFGI AND AI SERVICES

CFGI is a leading advisory firm serving the Office of the CFO, with approximately 1,400 professionals across more than 30 offices in North America and Europe. CFGI is independent of audit and vendor relationships, advising CFOs, boards, and private equity sponsors without conflict. AI Services is CFGI's newest practice: a horizontal capability that helps clients assess AI and data readiness, stand up governance, and operationalize AI across the finance function and the enterprise. This is a founding-team seat with direct influence over how the practice is built.

THE ROLE

You are the practice's senior technical authority and a player-coach. You serve as lead technical assessor inside every diagnostic, convert findings into buildable and commercially scoped roadmaps, and personally ship the first client builds while hiring the engineering team behind you. You are equally credible whiteboarding with a CIO and shipping production code the same afternoon.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Serve as lead technical assessor on readiness diagnostics: data, architecture, tooling, and security scans.
• Translate diagnostic findings into buildable roadmaps and scoped, priced statements of work.
• Personally design and ship early client builds: agents, workflow automation, and data products.
• Define the practice's technical delivery method: agentic design patterns, evaluation, security, and deployment standards.
• Own the practice's platform depth across Claude Enterprise, Claude Code, Cowork, MCP integration, and adjacent tooling.
• Build and lead the Delivery Pod: hire and coach AI and data engineers; quality-assure every build.
• Act as technical authority in pursuits; defend architectures and estimates with client technology leadership.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

• 12+ years across solutions architecture, engineering leadership, or applied AI, including 3+ years client-facing or pre-sales.
• Have taken large language model or agentic systems to production at enterprise scale, beyond proofs of concept.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

• Deep hands-on capability: Python and TypeScript; orchestration and loop design; subagent patterns; evaluation harnesses; memory architectures including graph-based memory.
• Enterprise architecture and security fluency: identity, data protection, deployment models, integration patterns.
• Commercial scoping and estimation discipline; comfortable owning margin on technical work.
• Consulting or professional services delivery background.
• Experience in regulated industries or private equity portfolio environments.

NICE TO HAVE

• Visible technical eminence: open-source contribution, technical writing, or conference speaking.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED, FIRST TWELVE MONTHS

• Technical findings sections rated credible by client CIO and data leadership.
• Roadmap-to-signed-build conversion on assessed accounts.
