Job description

Help shape the future of AI in the legal industry. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with emerging AI technology, turn innovative ideas into practical solutions, and directly influence how AI is adopted across the firm. You'll collaborate with attorneys, business professionals, and technology teams to test new tools, improve workflows, and help define what the future of AI looks like at Godfrey & Kahn.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an AI Solution Analyst to help accelerate practical AI adoption across the firm. Reporting to the Director of AI Strategy & Projects, this hands-on role will move assigned initiatives from idea to implementation through use case management, structured testing, pilot support, and preliminary risk review. The Analyst will collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, business professionals, IT, Information Security, the Help Desk, Learning & Development, and external vendors.

The ideal candidate is a curious, practical problem solver with 2-5 years of professional experience and at least 1-2 years of meaningful hands-on AI experience. This person should be comfortable experimenting with leading tools, analyzing workflows, designing tests, evaluating output quality and risk, and coordinating cross-functional work. Law firm or professional services experience is helpful but not required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage assigned AI use cases and pilots from intake and workflow analysis through testing, implementation planning, measurement, and improvement, under the Director's guidance.
  • Design and conduct structured tests of AI models, legal AI tools, and AI-enabled features; develop prompts, test materials, and scoring criteria and evaluate quality, consistency, citation support, reliability, efficiency, and usability.
  • Create prototypes and repeatable AI-assisted workflows using approved tools; coordinate with IT Applications or vendors when configuration, integration, or production deployment is needed.
  • Coordinate pilots and rollouts, including participants, test materials, issue tracking, feedback, results analysis, and recommendations for next steps.
  • Perform preliminary AI risk assessments under Director oversight, addressing confidentiality, privilege, privacy, security, data use, reliability, transparency, and legal or ethical considerations; document and elevate findings for appropriate review.
  • Research emerging AI capabilities, product changes, vendors, and legal-industry practices; coordinate demonstrations or proofs of concept and recommend areas for further evaluation.
  • Partner with the Help Desk to triage AI-specific questions, investigate tool or workflow issues, develop guidance and FAQs, and elevate technical or risk matters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant practical experience.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in AI, information technology, professional services, or law
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in AI implementation or technology-enabled process improvement, including hands-on generative AI experience.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI to real business or workflow problems and explaining how solutions were designed, tested, refined, and measured.
  • Working knowledge of AI concepts and limitations, including prompt and context design, model selection, grounding, hallucinations, agents, evaluation, and data privacy or security.
  • Strong analytical and experimental skills, including structured test planning, qualitative and quantitative assessment, failure-mode analysis, and clear documentation of conclusions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical guidance.
  • Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Microsoft 365 applications is particularly valuable. Familiarity with Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, Westlaw, Practical Law, or other legal technology is a strong plus.
  • Experience with custom GPTs or agents, Copilot Studio, low-code tools, APIs, data analysis, or scripting is beneficial.
