Job summary

F5 is seeking an entry‑level Software Development Engineer (AI) in its Digital organization, based in Seattle, WA. You will collaborate with experienced mentors to design and develop scalable AI systems, explore ML/AI tech, and build your career across backend, DevOps, ML engineering, and tooling.

You’ll contribute to real‑world projects, write tests, create documentation, and participate in code reviews. This internship‑to‑fulltime pathway emphasizes growth, learning, and hands‑on impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated programming experience in Python (preferred) or Java/C++/Go, including building APIs/services, writing tests, and using Git.
• Hands-on exposure to ML/DL concepts and tooling (PyTorch preferred) including training/inference workflows.
• Familiarity with LLM tooling and retrieval patterns (Hugging Face, embeddings + search).
• Exposure to data handling for ML with common formats (Parquet) and basic ETL checks.
• Knowledge of CS fundamentals (data structures & algorithms).
• Willingness to relocate to Seattle, WA or San Jose, CA if needed.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and development of scalable AI-powered systems.

• Collaborate on backend/API components and testing in a team setting.
• Create technical documentation for designs and features.
