Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI seeks an AI Red Team Engineer on the AI Security team to emulate adversaries and develop capabilities for national security contexts. The role spans offensive cyber and AI security, with graduate study and certs supported, including travel to partner sites.

You will plan red-team TTPs, work across Windows and Linux, and contribute to field deployments while mentoring others and maintaining strong cross-team communications.

Qualifications

• Candidate has deep offensive cyber experience and is familiar with red‑team operations.
• Experience with penetration testing and exploit development.
• Strong programming/scripting in Python, C, and BASH; willingness to learn PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Red team real-world AI-enabled systems to assess national security objectives.
• Develop new tactics, techniques, and procedures for attacking AI-enabled platforms.
• Write tools to support red-team operations in multiple languages.
• Represent CERT portfolio and communicate with mission partners and internal teams.
