Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI invites applications for an AI Red Team Engineer on the AI Security team. The role focuses on adversary emulation and capability development for national security contexts, requiring deep offensive cyber expertise and experience with AI security across Windows and Linux environments.

Candidates should have strong programming/scripting skills, knowledge of TCP/IP, and familiarity with reverse engineering tools.

Qualifications

• Experience with penetration testing, red teaming, or exploit development.
• Hands-on experience with at least one command and control framework (e.g., Cobalt Strike, Sliver).
• Proficiency in Python, C, and Bash; willingness to learn PowerShell.
• Ability to read code to spot vulnerabilities without AI assistance.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP and OSI model; experience with Linux and Windows security.

Responsibilities

• Red team real-world AI-enabled systems to support national security objectives.
• Develop new TTPs for attacking AI-enabled systems to prepare defenders.
• Write tools in Python, PowerShell, C, and Bash for red team operations.
• Represent CERT portfolio and communicate with mission partners and internal teams.
