Job summary

RELX is seeking a Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions that power knowledge discovery across the global research ecosystem. You will work with rich data sources including publications, datasets, knowledge graphs, and ontologies to make scientific knowledge more discoverable, trustworthy, and actionable.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, UX, analytics, and domain experts to translate complex problems into measurable, data-driven solutions

Qualifications

• Degree in Data Science, ML, AI, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Extensive Python programming skills and experience building production-quality data science solutions.
• Experience with large-scale structured, semi-structured, or unstructured datasets.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI technologies including LLMs, embeddings, retrieval systems, and generative AI.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy machine learning, NLP, and generative AI solutions for scientific knowledge discovery.
• Build intelligent retrieval, search, recommendation, ranking, and question-answering systems for research outcomes.
• Develop AI systems that connect information across publications, datasets, citations, knowledge graphs, and ontologies.
• Fine-tune and deploy large language models and RAG systems in production.
• Create evaluation frameworks for quality, reliability, relevance, and user impact.
• Build scalable data pipelines and ML workflows for experimentation and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, UX, analytics, and domain experts to solve challenges.
• Write clean, production-grade Python code and reusable AI components.
• Improve capabilities and real-world value of AI systems for scientific discovery.
