Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design, build, and scale AI solutions that power scientific discovery and knowledge enrichment across the global research ecosystem.

You will work on challenging problems in NLP, retrieval, knowledge graphs, and generative AI, deploying production‑grade models and RAG systems that support researchers, clinicians, and institutions in evidence-based decision making.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience in data science, ML, AI, NLP, information retrieval, statistics, CS, or related quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced ML, NLP, retrieval, and generative AI solutions to power scientific discovery and knowledge exploration.
• Build and optimize LLM-powered applications, including QA, literature summarization, semantic search, and evidence-grounded AI experiences.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems connecting AI models with trusted scientific content.
• Create intelligent capabilities for search, ranking, recommendations, entity extraction, classification, enrichment, and decision support.
• Design evaluation frameworks to measure quality, relevance, reliability, grounding, trustworthiness, and user impact.
