Job summary

Bloomberg L.P. is seeking an experienced AI/ML research professional for the CTO Office to advance the research agenda through original work and collaborations with academic and industry partners.

You will help design scalable, reproducible workflows, publish in top venues, and engage with product, engineering, communications, and legal teams to shape Bloomberg's AI strategy and external presence.

Qualifications

• PhD in AI, ML, CS, statistics, optimization, data science, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years post-PhD experience in industry, academia, or a research-oriented organization.
• Strong publication record in AI research and credible presence in the community.
• Experience with rigorous research review, reproducibility practices, or internal review systems.
• Strong judgment about AI research quality, rigor, and external communication.
• Ability to build trust across research, product, engineering, communications, legal, and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for non-specialist stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and interest in improving complex workflows and processes.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments where processes may need to adapt.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Bloomberg’s research agenda through original AI/ML research and external collaborations.
• Strengthen the AI research ecosystem by improving processes, norms, and infrastructure for rigorous, reproducible work.
• Track advances in ML and relate them to Bloomberg products, platforms, and clients.
• Represent Bloomberg’s AI research in conferences, workshops, and partner engagements.
