Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks an AI Project Leader to guide teams of engineers and scientists in delivering AI and data science solutions for national defense and civilian sponsors. You will lead prototype development and transition successes to real-world impact.

You will mentor team members, craft research proposals, and build partnerships across APL and JHU to advance state-of-the-art capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or other relevant field.
  • Project leadership experience in DoD, Cyber, or National Health-based AI, Machine Learning or Data Science settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance, and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI+poly level clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of engineers and scientists to develop and deliver AI and data science solutions for civilian and military sponsors.
  • Drive development of new research proposals and transition successes to real-world impact.
  • Mentor and grow team members into future leaders within APL and JHU.
  • Build partnerships with scientists and engineers across APL, JHU, and the wider research community.
