Job summary

Brain Co. is building AI-native systems for specialty insurance, applying frontier AI to read declarations, endorsements, and schedules. You will guide experts who annotate policies, review AI outputs, and help shape how coverage is interpreted for production use.

The role involves working with engineering to set rubrics, benchmarks, and product requirements, while communicating complex insurance concepts to non-insurance teammates.

Qualifications

• USA-based with 3+ years, 5+ preferred in excess and specialty insurance.
• Experience as underwriter, coverage attorney/counsel, or consultant in E&S.
• Ability to read end-to-end policy documents and explain coverage clearly.
• Ability to articulate reasoning behind what is “correct” for AI encoding.
• Clear communication with engineers and non-insurance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Annotate policy structures: limits, sublimits, retentions, attachment points, and layer stacking.
• Render structured coverage conclusions from agreements and exclusions.
• QA and correct labeling of AI outputs against expert standards.
• Resolve ambiguous or complex cases, including follow-form excess and unusual terms.
• Build evaluation rubrics and review workflows to measure extraction and coverage accuracy.
• Translate insurance practice into product requirements for the AI system.
• Explain terminology and market conventions between documents and engineers.
• Define ground truth by reviewing real policies and endorsements.
