Job summary

4A Consulting, LLC seeks an AI/ML Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain data products, pipelines, APIs, and AI-enabled data services supporting state government analytics and AI/ML initiatives. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and agency stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable data solutions.

The role emphasizes data integration, streaming, quality, governance, feature engineering, and model integration, with a focus on reliability and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field; master's or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or ML engineering; 2+ years in data product/service design.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) incl. Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks.
• Experience with streaming/messaging (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub, Event Hubs).
• Familiarity with Airflow, dbt, or Prefect.

Responsibilities

• Data Products and APIs: build reusable datasets and RESTful or event-driven APIs with data contracts and documentation.
• Data Pipelines and Streaming: develop ETL/ELT and streaming pipelines; ensure idempotent processing and retries.
• Data Quality and Governance: implement automated quality checks; manage catalog, lineage, and access controls incl. PII, CJIS, HIPAA.
• AI-Powered Data Services: develop ML-enabled services; integrate model outputs into data products and monitor drift.
• Monitoring and Continuous Improvement: troubleshoot pipelines and improve reliability and performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: translate agency requirements into practical data solutions with stakeholders.
