Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an AI Platform Engineer in Minneapolis, MN to design, build, and maintain scalable AI infrastructure that powers our AI solutions. This role focuses on secure, high-performance platforms enabling rapid experimentation and reliable model deployment.

You will collaborate with AI Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Data Scientists, and Operations to ensure governed delivery, observability, and enterprise-scale adoption across Mortenson's AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, and/or AI/ML infrastructure roles.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD tools.
• Strong understanding of MLOps practices and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI platform architecture that supports model training, deployment, and monitoring at scale.
• Optimize compute, storage, and networking for performance and cost efficiency.
• Build automated pipelines for model deployment and infrastructure provisioning; integrate with enterprise systems.
• Ensure security best practices for AI platforms including identity management, encryption, and compliance monitoring.
• Establish observability for AI workloads and maintain 99.9% uptime with rapid recovery; collaborate with engineering, data science and operations teams.
