Job summary

Capital One in San Jose, CA is seeking an AI Engineer 4 to help build responsible, scalable AI systems across the IFX team. You will design and deploy AI software components, optimize foundation models, and ensure governance and observability.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑powered products, manage end‑to‑end architectures, and uphold security and data governance standards while mentoring others.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's with relevant AI/ML experience.
• 4+ years programming in Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java.
• Experience leading AI system development and cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Work on foundation model training, inference, and agent workflows.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch.
• Optimize model performance, latency, cost, and scalability.
• Define SLIs/SLOs for AI reliability and governance.
• Collaborate on security, data governance, and deployment reviews.
• Mentor junior staff on scalable design and production translation.
