Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD systems powering our AI-native APEX platform in a hybrid Rockville/Gaithersburg setting.

You will collaborate with AI, application development, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to accelerate deployment velocity, ensure reliability, and enable rapid AI-infused capabilities across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field is required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience shown by the role.
• 3+ years of hands-on Docker containerization and production deployments.
• Proven GitLab CI/CD experience: runner setup, pipelines, troubleshooting.
• Strong AWS proficiency (ECS, ECR, VPC) and Terraform IaC expertise.
• Experience with AWS data services: DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Redis, Aurora Postgres, or DynamoDB.
• Proficiency with Linux/macOS CLI.
• Release engineering and deployment automation experience.
• Monitoring/observability tools such as Datadog.
• Understanding AI/ML concepts and LLM architectures; Claude Code or similar tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration; hybrid Rockville, MD in-office presence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain containerized applications (Docker) for production deployment.
• Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and monitoring.
• Architect and manage AWS infrastructure (ECS, ECR, VPC, EC2) using Terraform.
• Administer and optimize AWS data services (DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Redis, Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, S3).
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Ensure security practices across infrastructure (ACM, best practices).
• Lead release engineering, versioning, deployment automation, and rollback procedures.
• Collaborate with AI and development teams to improve performance and reliability.
• Support AI-native architecture with Claude Code/AI tools.
• Participate in on-call rotation for rapid incident response.
