Barnes & Thornburg is searching for an experienced Patent Agent or Technical Specialist to support our innovative AI projects within a collaborative environment. This position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies within our diverse practices.

Located in either Chicago, Indianapolis, or Minneapolis, the role requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience in deep AI concepts. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with deep AI concepts is a significant asset.
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or intent to sit for the patent bar within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications.
• Support the development and management of patent portfolios.
• Conduct technical research and analysis related to inventions, prior art, and patentability.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly for legal documentation.
• Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and inventors.
