Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg is looking for an experienced Patent Agent or Technical Specialist with over 3 years of experience in deep AI concepts. This role involves supporting the firm in innovative projects across various practices while working within a collaborative team environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, possess strong technical and interpersonal skills, and be able to assist in patent prosecution and management. This position can be based in Chicago, Indianapolis, or Minneapolis.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience with deep AI concepts is a significant asset.
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, or intent to sit for the patent bar within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications.
• Support the development and management of patent portfolios.
• Conduct technical research and analysis related to inventions.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly for legal documentation.
