Job description

Job Description Summary

The AI Operations Specialist is a staff-level role within GE Vernova's Wind Engineering AI Strategy & Transformation team. This role is accountable for operational excellence across the team — ensuring that the systems, processes, and rhythms needed to run a high-performing AI transformation function are in place, operating efficiently, and continuously improving. Serving as the operational backbone of the team, the Operations Leader enables the AI Portfolio Manager, AI Adoption & Enablement Leader, and Senior AI Architects to focus on their strategic priorities by maintaining the operational infrastructure that keeps the team aligned, visible, and effective. Reporting to the Director, AI Strategy & Transformation, this individual works across portfolio operations, enablement support, stakeholder coordination, and cross-functional program management to ensure the team operates with discipline and consistency.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Own Operational Excellence for the AI Strategy & Transformation Team
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve standard work for team operations, including meeting cadences, reporting cycles, intake processes, and documentation standards.
  • Own the team's operating calendar and ensure alignment across portfolio reviews, governance checkpoints, leadership briefings, and cross-functional coordination sessions.
  • Identify inefficiencies across team processes — intake, tracking, reporting, and communication — and drive structured improvements using Lean and continuous improvement principles.
  • Develop and maintain standard templates, playbooks, and repeatable execution frameworks that scale with team and portfolio growth.
  • Lead Kaizen activities and operational excellence initiatives that improve the effectiveness and velocity of the AI transformation team.
Support AI Portfolio Execution and Governance
  • Maintain portfolio dashboards, initiative trackers, and status reporting assets, ensuring leadership has current and accurate visibility into portfolio health.
  • Coordinate governance activities including stage-gate reviews, portfolio scorecards, and milestone tracking — ensuring they operate on schedule and with appropriate preparation.
  • Track AI initiatives through lifecycle stages: opportunity identification, proof of concept, pilot, production deployment, and scaling.
  • Flag risks, delays, and execution gaps to the AI Portfolio Manager and elevate issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Prepare briefing materials, summary reports, and governance documentation in support of portfolio reviews.
Support AI Adoption and Enablement Operations
  • Track adoption metrics, utilization patterns, and user satisfaction data across deployed AI tools, maintaining dashboards used by the Adoption Leader and Director.
  • Assist with the coordination and logistics of training programs, enablement sessions, and AI communities of practice events.
  • Help develop and maintain training content, enablement materials, and role-based competency resources.
  • Identify adoption barriers surfaced through metrics or user feedback and ensure they are documented and actioned.
  • Support communications activities including AI newsletters, awareness campaigns, and change management content.
Conduct Research, Analysis, and Strategic Support
  • Conduct landscape analysis on AI tools, vendor capabilities, and industry practices to inform investment and adoption decisions.
  • Synthesize portfolio performance data, adoption metrics, and stakeholder feedback into actionable insights and leadership-ready recommendations.
  • Support business case development for new AI initiatives, including value quantification, cost-benefit framing, and risk assessment.
  • Prepare executive briefings, board-level presentations, and governance documentation on behalf of the Director and team.
  • Research legal, ethical, and organizational dimensions of AI deployment in industrial engineering contexts.
Coordinate Cross-Functional Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a coordination point between Engineering, Digital, Finance, ARC Foundry, and HR teams on AI initiatives and enablement programs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working sessions, ensuring participants are prepared, agendas are clear, and outcomes are documented.
  • Prepare and distribute team communications that build organizational awareness and trust in AI tools and initiatives.
  • Partner with embedded AI Architects and engineering leads to understand workflow needs and surface priorities for the broader team.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred (graduate-level coursework in AI, business analytics, technology strategy, or organizational management highly preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in operational excellence, program coordination, or transformation support within a complex technical or matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and leadership-ready recommendations (demonstrated through 3+ years of professional experience).
  • 2+ years of experience working with data and analytics tools, including the development of dashboards, performance reporting, and identifying trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to synthesize information into clear insights and leadership-ready recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior and executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, maintain accuracy under time pressure, and deliver consistently in ambiguous environments.
  • Collaborative working style with experience building relationships across functions and influencing without direct authority.
  • Comfort with data and analytics — including dashboards, trend analysis, and performance reporting.
