Job summary

PALO IT is seeking a Senior Backend Java Engineer to design, develop, and optimize robust backend solutions within modern microservices architectures.

You will build RESTful APIs, implement microservices with Spring Boot and Jakarta EE, and manage relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring high availability and security. Collaboration in international teams is essential, with documentation in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications in Java (8+), ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs, including versioning, authentication, and documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Build microservices and endpoints using frameworks such as Spring Boot and/or Jakarta EE.
• Manage and integrate relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, Redis) efficiently.
• Implement and optimize data access using ORMs such as Hibernate or JPA.
• Develop unit tests and automated API tests using JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, and Postman/Newman.
• Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and secure development best practices (OWASP, data validation, error handling).
• Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or others).
• Collaborate in agile teams (Scrum), actively participating in code reviews and pull request management.
• Identify bottlenecks, perform profiling, and optimize performance in production environments.
• Work in international environments, communicating technical solutions and documenting APIs in English.

Your Role

As a Senior Backend Java Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing robust, scalable, and secure backend solutions within modern microservices‑based architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications in Java (Java 8+), ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs, including versioning, authentication, and documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Use Generative AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as a first‑class engineering assistant for code scaffolding, refactoring, generation, optimisation, and test‑case/documentation generation.
• Build applications through AI‑driven development practices, including AI‑assisted debugging and troubleshooting, intelligent code completion, pattern recognition, and automated documentation generation.
• Apply prompt engineering best practices for reliable, repeatable engineering outcomes.
• Validate GenAI output (determinism checks, guardrails, fallback logic).
