Job summary

Deepgram is hiring an Accounting Manager, GL & Close to lead the more complex parts of our monthly close and prepare for external audits, SOX, and an ERP migration off Xero. You’ll own the high‑impact areas and build a scalable close process in a fast‑growing, AI‑native finance team.

This hands‑on role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and involves coaching the Senior Accountant, coordinating with offshore staff, and ensuring controls survive audits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of technical close areas.
• Active CPA preferred; Big 4 or national firm foundation a plus.
• Deep operational US GAAP fluency where it's hardest.
• Hands-on ERP and systems experience.
• AI-native working style; daily use of LLMs in accounting work.
• Comfort with scripting (Python, SQL, Apps Script) for schedules and automation.
• Strong written communication and ability to explain variances to non-finance leaders.
• High integrity, high ownership, low ego.

Responsibilities

• Push the close forward; own critical-path workstreams and drive them to done.
• Prepare the complex and judgmental areas (stock compensation, leases, capitalized software, payroll)
• Review established areas (fixed assets, prepaids, cash, recurring accruals)
• Own the tie-out and the story (consolidation and close package)
• Manage and develop the team; coach the Senior Accountant and scale the team
• Be a day-to-day owner in our first external audit
• Design close controls that survive SOX
• Own your workstream in the ERP migration off Xero
• Rebuild the work around AI with automated tooling
