Job summary

OLX is seeking a software engineer to join cross-functional teams and help build scalable microservices. You will contribute with Golang, Java/Kotlin, or PHP, and work with databases like MySQL and DynamoDB on AWS with Terraform and CloudFormation.

You will write tests and documentation, use AI to streamline delivery, and own the quality of every line that ships. A collaborative, fast-moving, global team awaits.

Qualifications

• Proficient in software development with Golang, Java/Kotlin or PHP.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached).
• Strong knowledge of AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Ability to design scalable microservices and modern cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Contribute technically to projects and take part in planning and execution of complex tasks.
• Establish credibility through high-quality technical output and teamwork.
• Use AI to accelerate delivery: generate tests/docs and assist debugging and refactoring while owning the code.
• Ask questions, brainstorm, and own the product you are building.
• Work closely with product management to deliver user-focused solutions.

Join one of our cross-functional teams in Motors, Real Estate, OLX Classifieds or Platforms, working remotely from Poland.

As part of our 1,000+ tech team across multiple locations, you’ll collaborate with engineers, SREs, and product teams to build scalable, high-impact solutions, while reporting to an Engineering Manager who will support your growth and impact.

We use Golang and Kotlin, modernizing systems as we transition from legacy PHP and move towards a microservices architecture, deploying through GitLab CI/CD to AWS.

Who we are looking for:

• Someone who embraces a “you build it, you run it, you own it” mindset — including for AI-generated output: you validate, refactor, and take full accountability
• An engineer with solid experience in software development, ideally with Golang, Java/Kotlin, or PHP
• Someone with experience in relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached) and a good grasp of AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• A problem solver who approaches challenges with both a technical and user-first mindset to build impactful solutions
• You write structured prompts for multi-step tasks and maintain project-level AI context (CLAUDE.md / rules files) — you catch bugs and gaps in AI-generated output before it lands in production
• You demonstrate measurable judgment about when to use AI and when to override it — you use AI for debugging, performance analysis, and complex refactoring while owning the outcome
• A team player who is open to discussions, cross-team collaboration, and knowledge sharing

What you will be doing:
