Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is seeking a Data Scientist II to develop and apply AI/ML solutions for DoD chemical and biological detection systems at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. You will work on a government scientific team, leading parts of development efforts and mentoring junior developers.

The role requires 3–9 years of Python ML experience, expertise in TensorFlow or PyTorch, and strong English communication skills. U.S. citizenship and DoD clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen eligible for a DoD security clearance.
• 3 to 9 years advanced proficiency with Python coding.
• 3 years ML project experience including deep learning, NLP, and/or computer vision.
• Advanced proficiency with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Advanced proficiency with databases.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly, multitask, and complete work within schedule.

Responsabilités

• Develop and apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools and algorithms to optimize DoD chemical and biological detection and identification systems.
• Work as part of a government scientific team developing and updating military sensors.
• Lead development of some efforts.
• Develop software applications in Python and apply machine learning techniques to improve the detection of chemical and biological materials.
• Develop, test, train, and maintain applications for developmental sensors.
• Develop and use tools to import, process, and store instrument and sensor datafiles for use in applications.
• Lead small development efforts and mentor junior developers.
• Support field testing, train users, and assess system performance.
