Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS) at the University of Maryland is seeking an AI Research Assistant to support DE Bioeffects projects. You will work with the AI/ML lead to advance AI/ML backed sensemaking technologies within a large interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include attending meetings, taking notes, and contributing to problem-solving. Candidates must be enrolled in a computing-related degree and able to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree program in a closely related field.
• Hands‑on experience building and evaluating retrieval and language‑model systems, including at least one end-to-end retrieval system.
• Ability to obtain US security clearance and comply with background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the AI/ML lead for the DE Bioeffects project and attend project meetings.
• Take technical notes during meetings and contribute to problem solving with the interdisciplinary team.
• Communicate clearly in writing and collaborate with researchers across disciplines.
