Job summary

University of Maryland, College Park’s Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS) is hiring for Faculty Research Specialist ranks. The role supports non-kinetic effects software, M&S, and AI/ML applications within Agile project teams on government-sponsored programs.

Strong Python experience and AI tool setup are expected, with eligibility for security clearance. Rank is either Faculty Research Specialist or Senior Faculty Research Specialist, with responsibilities spanning

Qualifications

Programming experience in Python or other modern object-oriented languages with exposure to AI/ML frameworks.
Experience in developing software in support of research projects.
Senior rank requires Master’s Degree with 3 years of research or related experience, or Bachelor’s with 5+ years in equivalent roles.
Eligible for security clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
Experience mentoring or training junior developers, researchers, or students.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end application development from design through deployment.
Work with project leads to design enabling systems and research plans.
Present results at internal/external research forums and contribute to proposals.
Mentor and train junior developers, researchers, or students.
Support AI/ML and M&S applications and research tasks.
