Job summary

DIRECTV is offering a Summer Intern position focused on AI/ML for the business division in Clarksburg, MD. You will work on real-world problems in the product development space, leveraging Python and ML tools to build AI-powered video solutions for the commercial market.

The 10-week in-person program runs 3-5 days per week in the Clarksburg office, with compensation at $25-$34 per hour. Applicants must have full U.S. work authorization now and in the future.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year undergrad or advanced degree in AI, CS, SWE, IT, or DS.
• Proficiency in Python and ML ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas) with reproducible scripts.
• Ability to select ML approaches (supervised/unsupervised/deep/reinforcement).
• Support end-to-end model development: data prep, training, validation.
• Build and benchmark baseline models in Python (linear regression, decision trees, SVM).
• Experience with Linux/Android; Claude Code and OpenAI API.
• Apply unsupervised techniques (clustering, PCA) to unlabeled data.
• Address overfitting/underfitting; bias-variance trade-off.
• Evaluate models with accuracy, precision, recall, MSE; choose metrics.
• Experiment with ensemble methods; prototype CNNs/RNNs/transformers (PyTorch/TF).
• Experience with generative AI setups (transformers, GANs).
• Cross-functional collaboration; strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML tools for video solutions in the commercial market.
• Analyze live and recorded video content with AI/ML models.
• Work with video metadata, captions, transcripts for search and summaries.
• Evaluate models, develop data pipelines, test embeddings and semantic search.
• Create prototype tools or dashboards to demonstrate new use cases.
