Job summary

DIRECTV invites a Summer Intern to Clarksburg, MD to tackle AI/ML challenges in video content for the commercial market. You will develop AI/ML tools, analyze live and recorded video data, and contribute to an AI-powered media intelligence platform with tasks across data processing, training, and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year undergraduate or advanced degree in AI, CS, software engineering, IT, or data science.
• Proficiency in Python and its ML ecosystem (NumPy and pandas) with reproducible training/evaluation scripts.
• Assist in selecting ML approaches (supervised, unsupervised, DL, RL) based on data.
• Support end-to-end model development lifecycle: data collection, preprocessing, feature extraction/selection, training, validation.
• Build and benchmark baseline models in Python (e.g., linear regression, decision trees, SVM) for classification/regression.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML tools for video content analysis and AI-powered media intelligence.
• Work on data processing pipelines and experiments with embeddings and semantic search.
• Prototype tools/dashboards to demonstrate new media intelligence use cases.
• Evaluate models using accuracy, precision, recall, MSE and select evaluation criteria.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
