Job summary

DIRECTV is offering a 10-week Summer Intern position in Clarksburg, MD, focusing on AI/ML for commercial video solutions. You will work with the Product Development team to develop AI/ML tools, analyze video metadata, and prototype models using PyTorch or TensorFlow. Strong Python skills and the ability to run reproducible training scripts are required.

Eligibility requires full U.S. work authorization, with in-person work in Maryland and exposure to AI/ML workflows, data processing, and model

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or advanced degree in AI, CS, or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python and ML ecosystem (NumPy, pandas).
• Ability to write reproducible training and evaluation scripts.
• Experience selecting ML approaches based on data.
• Experience building baseline models: linear regression, decision trees, SVM.
• Familiarity with ML tooling: Linux, Claude Code, OpenAI API.
• Experience with unsupervised techniques like clustering and PCA.
• Understanding bias-variance trade-off; model tuning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with end-to-end model development lifecycle.
• Collect and preprocess data; feature extraction and selection.
• Train and validate models; benchmark performance.
• Experiment with embeddings and semantic search; prototype tools/dashboards.
• Evaluate models using accuracy, precision, recall, MSE.
• Collaborate cross-functionally; present findings.
