Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a Technical Staff candidate to develop AI, ML, simulation, and data-analysis methods for technology development and assessment. You will work with government sponsors, subject-matter experts, and engineers to translate questions into quantitative approaches.

The role spans problem formulation, algorithm/software development, modeling, experimentation, and analysis using deep learning, RL, and physics-based methods.

Qualifications

• : Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Operations Research, or related field. Masters with 5+ years or Bachelors with 8+ years relevant experience acceptable.
• : Advanced programming in Julia, Python, or similar language.
• : Demonstrated depth in AI/ML including deep learning, LLMs, logic models or RL.
• : Ability to formulate/solve open-ended problems and lead software/algorithm development.
• : Strong applied statistics knowledge and experimental design.
• : Experience handling complex, unstructured datasets and deriving insights.
• : Ability to scope tech efforts and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• : Strong written/oral communication; quick learning in new areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI, modeling, or analysis capabilities for technology development and assessment.
• Translate questions into quantitative analyses, requirements, and evaluation criteria.
• Develop/evaluate AI/ML methods including deep learning and LLMs.
• Model complex systems with statistical/physics-based/data-driven approaches.
• Design studies/experiments, analyze data, quantify uncertainty, draw conclusions.
• Develop software prototypes; ensure architecture, testing, documentation, and version control.
• Mentor staff and drive new technical directions.
