Halvik Corp is hiring an AI/ML Engineer (Junior) to join the USPTO project. You will help develop and evaluate ML models, prepare datasets, and support AI integrations across applications.

You will work with a team of AI/ML engineers and other professionals to solve business problems using modern AI and ML techniques. The role emphasizes feature engineering, data preparation, and model evaluation, with hands-on experience in Python, ML libraries, and AI APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/AI/Data Science/Math/Engineering).
• 0–4 years for Junior level; 5–9 years Mid; 10+ years Senior.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, Java; AI coding harnesses and agentic software development.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG); model evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
• Assist with feature engineering and model optimization.
• Analyze model performance using standard metrics.
• Work with Python, ML libraries, and AI APIs.
• Perform basic NLP, computer vision, or generative AI tasks.
• Engage in prompt engineering and RAG integration.
• Prepare data with SQL and data wrangling.
• Use Git for version control; work with AI-enabled dev tools.

Position Overview

AI/ML Engineer to join team at USPTO. In this role, you will assist in developing and evaluating machine learning models, preparing datasets, implementing AI solutions, and supporting the integration of intelligent systems into applications. You will work closely with other AI/ML engineers and other professionals to solve business problems using modern artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

• Junior (0 to 4 years)
• Mid-Level (5 to 9 years)
• Senior (10 to 14 years)
• Technical Proficiency:
• Experience with Python, Javascript, Java
• Experience with AI coding harnesses or related methods for agentic software development
• Experience with LLM engineering such as prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic frameworks
• Experience with MLOps concepts, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and model lifecycle management.
• Experience collaborating in Agile development environments and using modern DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub).
• Experience with Amazon Bedrock or similar generative AI platforms
• Experience working with large language models and prompt engineering
• Experience with model evaluation and performance optimization
• Experience developing and integrating APIs
• Experience using AI-enabled development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies
• Compliance: Obtain Public Trust

Preferred Expertise

• Experience with document-heavy or structured-data AI applications
• Experience with federal government IT systems or federal contracting
• Experience with semantic search or knowledge graph systems
• Familiarity with accessibility and compliance requirements (Section 508)
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms (beyond just Bedrock)
• Contributions to open-source ML projects
• Publications or presentations in AI/ML
