Job summary

The Nuclear Company in Washington DC is seeking a talented AI/ML Engineer Intern for the Platform Integration & AI/Data squad. You will work with full-time engineers and nuclear-domain experts to ship ML features, build agents, and integrate NOS data and tools.

This six-month co-op (Fall 2026) is on-site five days a week with housing and relocation provided; you will gain hands-on experience in LLM-driven workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and safety monitoring in production.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Available for full six-month term and returning to school afterward.
• Strong Python fundamentals with ML/LLM tooling exposure (PyTorch, Hugging Face, or similar).
• Track record of shipping working software or ML projects.
• U.S. export controls access; U.S. Person status required; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Ship ML and AI features inside NOS applications used daily by teams.
• Build AI agents and workflows operating against NOS data and tools.
• Develop data pipelines and integrations across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, etc.
• Build predictive and anomaly-detection models for operations and engineering decisions.
• Own model quality end-to-end: eval criteria, thresholds, regression suites.
