Lyntris, a defense technology company, seeks AI/ML Engineer Interns to design and implement AI-enabled software with LLM integrations. You will work on diverse systems, create plans, and help secure software against threats, collaborating with engineers and sponsors.

The role involves hands-on development, documentation, and testing in a fast-paced defense-focused environment, with opportunities to travel for presentations and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or in progress in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
• Understanding of LLM-powered application development, including prompt and context engineering, agentic workflows, tool/function calling, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), structured outputs, and model evaluation.
• Proficiency with TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Proficiency with Java.
• Proficiency with Vue.js or React.
• Proficiency with REST API.
• Ability to travel to support technical presentations, testing, and integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, implement, debug, and test AI-enabled software components, including algorithms, knowledge bases, complex business logic, and LLM/agent integrations, for new and existing systems.
• Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
• Design, document, implement, debug, and test software.
• Create plans and estimates for building software features that satisfy requirements.
• Understand software system specifications and recommend improvements, including system-level implications and risk mitigation.
• Support activities to secure systems against cybersecurity threats.
• Collaborate with other engineers, project leads, and program managers to accomplish project goals.
