Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join our team to modernize a data science platform for a Federal customer. The role bridges business needs with technical solutions, leveraging modern AI capabilities.

The selected candidate will design AI Agents, train ML models on production data, and develop AI chatbots to support users. A DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required, along with a Bachelor's in CS and 6+ years of experience. Salary ranges from $115,000 to $180,000 per year.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of related work experience in AI/ML or software development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Minimum of 2 years hands-on development experience in training AI models.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into Dev/Ops pipelines to expedite coding and delivery.
• Experience developing Agents using OpenAI LLMs.
• Experience with AI chatbots to support business requirements.
• Experience training ML models on live/production datasets for predictive analysis and anomaly detection.
• Experience with Agile development methodology.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational database design/architecture.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
• Proven knowledge sharing through code reviews and documentation.
• Driven, self-directed, mission-focused.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new AI Agents to expedite capabilities meeting business requirements.
• Research AI capabilities in Databricks and Palantir to standardize usage by developers.
• Prompt Engineer LLMs for faster functional analysis and coding.
• Develop chatbots to support developer and customer interactions.
• Train ML models to predict outcomes from historical data inputs.
