Job description

Job Title: AI/ML Engineer – Cognitive Science Focus

Location: Remote (US-Based)

Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)

Can only work with US Citizens or GC Holders on this

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer with a strong foundation in cognitive science to develop and optimize machine learning models for advanced natural language understanding and human-computer interaction. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in AI-driven cognitive modeling, vLLMs, and GPU/CPU optimization. You will work closely with researchers and engineers to improve the intelligence and responsiveness of chatbot and conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and optimize AI/ML models with a cognitive science perspective, enhancing human-like reasoning and decision-making in AI systems.
  2. Implement and fine-tune Very Large Language Models (VLLMs) for chatbot applications.
  3. Optimize inference performance across GPU and CPU environments to improve efficiency.
  4. Research and apply principles of cognitive science to improve model interpretability, explainability, and robustness.
  5. Develop and integrate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques to enhance response accuracy.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cognitive scientists, software engineers, and UX designers.
  7. Evaluate and enhance ML models for real-world conversational AI deployment.

Required Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience in AI/ML development, with a focus on NLP and cognitive modeling.
  2. Strong background in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.
  3. Experience working with large-scale language models, transformers, and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX).
  4. Expertise in optimizing AI models for GPU and CPU efficiency.
  5. Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as Hugging Face, LangChain, or OpenAI APIs.
  6. Experience integrating AI models into production environments with real-time or near-real-time constraints.
  7. Knowledge of RAG techniques and their application in improving AI responses.
  8. Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for AI/ML workloads.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience with cognitive architectures, reinforcement learning, or neurosymbolic AI.
  2. Understanding of human cognition and its application to machine learning.
  3. Strong research background with publications in AI/ML and cognitive science.
  4. Experience working in a fast-paced startup or research-driven environment.

Why Join Us?

  1. Opportunity to work at the intersection of AI/ML and cognitive science.
  2. Engage in cutting-edge research and development of human-like AI systems.
  3. 100% remote role with flexible working hours.
  4. Potential for contract extension based on project success.

If you are passionate about building AI systems that think and respond more like humans, we’d love to hear from you!
