NXP Semiconductors in San Diego, CA, is seeking a senior AI/ML engineer to explore ideas that bring AI/ML to our VLSI design workflows. You will collaborate with Architecture, IP & SoC teams across sites to evaluate cutting-edge SoC technologies for multiple industries.

The role emphasizes GenAI, reinforcement learning, graph neural networks, and convolutional networks, requiring strong AI/ML expertise and CAD experience to optimize real-world hardware design challenges.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related disciplines with strong background in SW development.
• Hands-on programming in Python/C++.
• 5+ years of AI and ML techniques (LLMs, CNN, RNN, GraphNN) applied to real-world optimization.
• Data structures, algorithms, and software development for optimization problems.
• Unix/Linux experience, revision control (Git, Bitbucket), and debugging tools.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Explore research ideas and solutions that bring AI/ML applications to VLSI design.
• Collaborate with Architecture, IP & SoC design, verification and implementation teams across sites to evaluate for leading edge SoC technologies.
