Job summary

Aegistech in Northern New Jersey is seeking a senior AI/ML engineering consultant to lead and design production-grade GenAI solutions. The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence 2-3 days per week, with local candidates only and no relocation.

You will drive architecture, oversee end-to-end model deployment, evaluate safety and governance, and collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership to align AI initiatives with business goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering, ML, or data science.
• Technical leadership in high-impact AI initiatives.
• 2+ years building production-grade GenAI/LLM apps.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, vector search.
• Experience with RAG pipelines and context management.

Job description

Our client in Northern NJ is seeking a senior AI/ML Engineering consultant. This position is hybrid, onsite 2-3 days a week in the office. Local candidates only/NO RELOCATION.

This role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B, OPT, CPT, etc.) or transfer. Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization. Candidate must work as our W-2 employee, no sub-contractors.

Core Requirements:

1. Industry & Leadership Experience:

• 7+ years in software engineering, machine learning, or data science.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in high-impact engineering or AI initiatives.

2. Generative AI / LLM Expertise:

• 2+ years building and shipping production-grade GenAI/LLM applications.

Deep understanding of:

• LLMs, embeddings, vector search
• RAG pipelines and context management strategies
• Prompt engineering and retrieval optimization

Hands-on experience with:

• SFT on chain-of-thought or reasoning traces
• RL-based post-training: RLHF, RLVR, PPO, GRPO, DPO
• Designing reward models, verifiers, and evaluation frameworks
• Measuring and validating multi-step reasoning improvements
• Proven ability to architect, deploy, and operate large-scale production systems, including:
• Strong grasp of scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
