Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a part-time analyst to help identify and implement AI, analytics, and automation across business processes. The role focuses on documenting workflows, validating data, and developing dashboards in Excel and Power BI, with collaboration across Commercial, Operations, Finance, IT, and HR teams.

You will translate business questions into clear requirements, build quick-reference materials, and support data validation and reporting outputs while adhering to data

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in business analytics contexts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently with guidance as needed.
  • Ability to translate problems into structured requirements and analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Identify processes that can benefit from AI, analytics, workflow improvement, or automation.
  • Document current workflows, data inputs, handoffs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Support adoption of Copilot and other AI tools in daily work.
  • Develop reusable prompts, templates, and workflow guides.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, risks, opportunities for improvement.
  • Build dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, or other approved tools.
  • Assist in designing, testing, and supporting automated workflows.
  • Validate outputs against source documents and data.

What You'll Do
  • Identify business processes that may benefit from AI, analytics, workflow improvement, or automation support
  • Document current workflows, including process steps, data inputs, handoffs, pain points, manual work, and improvement opportunities
  • Support adoption and effective use of Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools
  • Develop, test, and refine reusable prompts, templates, workflow guides, and quick-reference materials
  • Analyze business, operational, or commercial data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and improvement areas
  • Build or support reports, dashboards, trackers, and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, or other approved tools
  • Assist in designing, documenting, testing, and supporting automated workflows
  • Evaluate repetitive administrative, reporting, communication, and follow-up processes for possible automation
  • Support data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks for reports, dashboards, and AI-generated outputs
  • Help translate business questions into clear requirements, analysis steps, workflow documentation, or practical recommendations
  • Partner with Commercial, Operations, Finance, IT, HR, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and summarize findings
  • Follow company policies for data security, confidentiality, responsible AI use, and human review of AI-generated outputs
  • Build a reusable prompt library for recurring commercial reporting, market summaries, meeting preparation, and follow-up workflows
  • Document manual reporting workflows and identify where Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Copilot, or Power Automate could reduce manual effort
  • Create dashboard or tracker prototypes for workflow status, AI use‑case visibility, adoption tracking, or process performance
  • Test AI-generated summaries, reports, or workflow outputs against source documents or data
  • Develop quick-reference guides that help employees use approved AI tools safely and effectively
  • Support automation opportunity assessments, including process readiness, data readiness, business rules, risks, and recommended next steps
What You'll Need
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, ask good questions, and work independently with appropriate guidance
  • Ability to translate business problems into structured requirements, analysis questions, workflow documentation, or improvement opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around data accuracy, documentation quality, and validation of outputs
  • Interest in AI, analytics, automation, process improvement, and practical business problem solving
  • Willingness to follow company policies for data security, confidentiality, responsible AI use, and review of AI-generated outputs
  • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot, generative AI tools, prompt engineering, or AI‑assisted productivity workflows
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Excel analytics, Power BI, SQL, Python, data visualization, workflow automation, business process analysis, or reporting tools
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, or Power Automate
  • Experience documenting workflows, creating dashboards, conducting research, managing projects, or presenting findings to business stakeholders
  • Interest in recycling, manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial analytics, supply chain, commodities, process improvement, or business transformation
Your Education
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related field
