Job summary

NWU in Palo Alto, CA seeks a hands-on intern to support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of high-performance AI infrastructure. You will work with servers, storage, networking, and software in secure environments, collaborating on bare-metal systems, Kubernetes, and Slurm.

Ideal candidates are pursuing or have completed a CS/CE degree, with Linux, scripting, and an interest in CI/CD, observability tools, and cloud infra.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's in computer engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Basic understanding of server hardware, firmware lifecycle, Linux environments, and security standards.
• Exposure to Bash or Python scripting.
• Familiarity with configuration management, CI/CD tools, workload managers, cluster software (Slurm, Kubernetes), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Professional fluency in English; Mandarin preferred.
• Interest in AI infrastructure, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of AI infrastructure servers, storage, networking equipment, and software.
• Assist with hardware diagnostics, system checks, and firmware updates.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on bare-metal systems, Kubernetes, and Slurm.
• Provide first-line engineering support for onsite operational issues including troubleshooting hardware, network, software, and firmware compliance.
• Document incident details, resolutions, and lessons learned; keep knowledge base up to date.
