Job summary

Google's gVisor team in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Software Engineer III to advance AI and infrastructure workloads at scale. You will contribute to container sandboxing, kernel features, and cloud-native runtime improvements, collaborating across teams to deliver high-performance, secure systems.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and solving complex distributed systems challenges, with opportunities to influence Google Cloud infrastructure and AI workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• Experience with cloud compute platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Google Cloud Functions).
• Experience working with Linux Kernels internals.
• Experience in software development using one or more programming languages, including Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Increase gVisor performance and compatibility with new types of workloads, including sandboxed hardware-accelerated inference tasks.
• Collaborate with the GKE team to shape the industry standard for running agentic workloads and sandboxing.
• Develop understanding of the project roadmap and proactively define milestones and features.
• Grow the OSS project by defining strategy and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
